Healing through creativity
One-to-one, online and group art therapy sessions in central Lewes

with Rachael Nicholson, MA
HCPC and BAAT registered practitioner
Art therapy offers another mode of self-expression alongside verbal exchange. You can use the space to develop your personal creativity, or you may want to go deeper, exploring your emotional landscape through image-making. I offer a space for self-care, with no judgement, and you don't need to be 'good at art'! Since qualifying from Goldsmiths London in 2010 (MA Art Psychotherapy), I have worked with a wide range of clients, from young children through to older adults. I have worked for the NHS, in educational settings and for local charities. For three years I worked as a visiting lecturer on the MA programme at Roehampton University in London. Currently I am focusing on private work with adults, although I do also see young people occasionally. My approach is informed by psychodynamic theory but my main objective is to create a space where participants feel safe, supported and able to express themselves creatively. Sharing feelings is optional, of course. Guidance with use of the art materials will be provided.
I am currently running a group session for adults on Tuesdays 2pm-3.30pm and I see individual clients before 1pm on Tuesday or Thursday; or after 5pm on most weekdays. I do not work at weekends. Please do get in touch if you would like to explore options.

This is a 30 minute taster session for people who are curious about art therapy and would like to have a short introductory session before committing.
Individual sessions lasting 55 minutes are usually conducted one-to-one, although there is also the option for online sessions if required.
A set of 6-12 sessions is usually recommended.
Group work (1.5 hours) is a good choice for people who want to be part of a supportive creative community, where responses to the artworks may be shared. To be booked in blocks of 6 sessions (£120) which can be renewed.
